Christmas is generally a slow time for selling real estate as potential buyers are busy organizing their Christmas and many budgets are strained, but there are always some determined house hunters braving the elements. Having a stylishly decorated home can make all the difference! Decorating your home at Christmas is a very personal thing, but if your home is on the market over the Christmas period, make your decorations as neutral as possible. An example of this would be to step away from inflatable snowmen and big light displays. I think that some of the bright decorations i see around look very festive, but if your home is on the market you want simple lighting to show off the properties architecture or draw attention to the gorgeous fir tree in the yard!
Inside your home before you put up any Christmas decorations ensure your home is de cluttered and staged. Adding Christmas decorations to an already cluttered looking space just ads to the overcrowding! Don't go overkill on the decorating and ensure that your Christmas decor compliments your homes decor. If you have a gorgeous view from a window don't block it with stick on snowflakes! If you have a gorgeous fireplace don't hide it behind Christmas stockings!
A tall Christmas tree can really show off an open to above space, but make sure that the tree isn't so wide it overwhelms the space! I recently saw a friends Christmas tree in their home and it looked great. It was simple but effective and looked really nice! It had small white icicle lights and pale blue and white glass balls which looked really effective!
THIS CHRISTMAS KEEP IT SIMPLE, BUT NEXT CHRISTMAS WHEN YOU ARE IN YOUR NEW HOME, YOU CAN HAVE WHATEVER DECORATIONS YOU WANT!
